New Music Download Site Turns the 'Net Right-Side Up -- by "Paying The Community" as Content Contributors

Announces Contracts for Digital Music Distribution From All Major Labels

NEW YORK, NY -- (MARKET WIRE) -- 02/28/2006 -- Riffin', an online music discovery service sporting the entire North American catalog including song downloads and CDs from all Majors and hundreds of independent labels, today announced the public launch of its "Beta" site at www.riffin.com.

Users can register as Webjockeys™, build Rifflists™ and review individual songs. Webjockeys earn cash when other visitors buy downloads from their playlists.

The name of the game is "music discovery". A Rifflist combines music, text, pictures, and personality. DJs and other contributors mix songs to surprise, delight, and inform the listener.

Three types of Webjockeys are featured: Professional (DJs), Community (music fans), and In-House (music journalists). There is no charge to register or become a Webjockey. Professional DJs also get an events calendar for listing live appearances on their page.

One Community Webjockey, an Emerson College student, has posted four Rifflists, including one named Hot Rods and Milkshakes. "This site really has potential," DJ Flur said. "It's a great place for young writers to get exposure through song reviews." Another Webjockey, Tryp73, a professional game developer in Champagne-Urbana, Illinois said: "It's a whole new artform," after posting five playlists, including Alternative Driving.

In addition to its 4.3 million song library of sample clips and jewelcase art, the site lets Webjockeys write about recordings no longer available or not yet released. "Riffin.com is about what's good," said Diane M. McAveeney, founder. "Great songs get exposure even if the download is not yet available. Music fans already have large collections of vinyl, CDs, and digital files. Riffin' allows music aficionados to earn some scratch while helping the rest of us organize our own listening experience."
